Celebrate the individual artistry of the Class of 2020 as they take to the stage in Angelico Concert Hall on Saturday night, September 21, with especially commissioned solos from diverse choreographers in the annual Alonzo King/BFA in Dance program’s Senior Solo Concert.
Performances start at 7 p.m.
Seniors scheduled to perform are Zara Anwar, Rosie Dater-Merton,
Marie Finley, Brandon Graham, Chloe Ha, Alesandra Harper, Gabriela Mendez-Lopez, Anouk Otsea, and Madison Palmer. They are among 42 students currently enrolled in the LINES Ballet/BFA in Dance program at Dominican, 33 of which come from outside the state of California.
Each senior will select a choreographer to work with independently as a way for them to connect with the professional dance community before graduating, as well as a special opportunity for them to take on the artistic responsibility of the stand alone solo.
For this year’s senior solo concert, there are three BFA in Dance alumni choreographers. Zara Anwar is working with Casey Thorne ’10, who recently accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Dance at Southern Utah University. Brandon Graham is working with Juan Ruiz ’17, and Alesandra Harper is working with Natalya Shoaf ’18.
The BFA in Dance program at Dominican fosters a wonderful connection between alumni and current students. With more than 100 alumni now, there is a vast network of alumni artists working across the country and abroad.
General admission is the Senior Solo is $10. Tickets are available at the door (cash and check only). Dominican students, faculty, and staff receive free admission with valid University I.D.
